December 07, 2018 -- EarthCam is the proud recipient of the 2018 Company of the Year award and celebrated this honor at the Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce’s (MRCC) annual holiday luncheon today.
Recognized for its charitable contributions to the community, EarthCam has long fostered the belief in the importance of giving back to local charities, non-profit organizations and philanthropic causes. Employees have delivered winter coats to families through NJ Cares, partnered with the local PBA to donate to Toys for Tots, donated to the Feed the Hungry Program organized by the Eastwick Foundation and raised funds for a local chapter of Girls Who Code, an organization that provides resources and training to close the gender gap that exists in the technology field. Earlier this year, the EarthCam team gathered to walk for Breast Cancer Research and sponsored the event held in Englewood, NJ. EarthCam has also contributed to the James Rose Foundation, a local non-profit landscape research and study foundation.
“The Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors selected EarthCam as MRCC’s 2018 Company of the Year based on their philanthropic projects both locally and nationwide,” said Sharon Rounds, Executive Director for the Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce, representing over 95 communities in New Jersey and New York. “We are happy to have them as a neighbor and proud to call EarthCam our member since 2015.”
Nationally, EarthCam is strongly committed to donating its webcam technology and services to organizations including the National Park Service, Habitat for Humanity, Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation and 9/11 Memorial Museum. EarthCam installed a camera just days after the September 11, 2001 attacks to document the recovery and rebuilding of the World Trade Center site. The company donated the original camera, along with millions of progress photos, to be included in the 9/11 Memorial Museum collection. Most recently, EarthCam provided its services to the National Park Service to broadcast President Trump’s address at the September 11 Memorial Service. Families and friends of those lost on that day were able to view the special ceremony from anywhere around the world via the live webcast.
“I am honored by this recognition from MRCC and grateful for the wonderful generosity of our community in how they have embraced our company, and more importantly, our employees”, said Brian Cury, CEO and Founder of EarthCam. “This area is a fantastic place to build an organization, thanks in large part to our fellow businesses and the community leaders. We are proud to be an MRCC member and we strive to continue to effect positive change both locally and nationwide.”
